Inspired by the characters in our text this term, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', we stepped into the shoes of wartime evacuees and immersed ourselves during a Now Press Play session. This transported us to the train platform, then to our (rather scary) new homes and carers in the countryside. When the Air Raid siren went off, we practised getting ourselves to safety in the shelter. We also imagined what it would be like to be reunited with our families after the war.
It's hard to believe that children our age went through this during World War Two! This was a very eye-opening experience, which we spent some time reflecting upon as a class.
